How to block websites on your computer

Several times while browsing through net you might came across websites which contains contents that might be inappropriate for you or other users using your PC.Those sites might featuring adult,malicious or any other other unwanted contents.Downloading any content from these sites may risk you PC security.If you feel like these sites may breach your security or might not good for your working environment,just follow given procedure to block these sites in all web browser installed on your PC

Blocking sites could be done using software but in this article we will look for manual trick.  

 Open windows>>System32>>drivers>>etc   

  »   Look for file Hosts

   

• Open hosts file using notepad

    »   Scroll to bottom

    »   Place cursor at bottom and type

         127.0.0.1 www.domain.com

         domain = site to block

        eg :- 127.0.0.1 www.google.com

        127.0.0.1 www.facebook.com

• Save this file.It’s done

Note :- Saving file needs admin’s rights. if a window saying Access denied pops up you need to get admin privileges.

To have admin privileges just right click on file go to security.

  »  Click on edit

  »  Select user names mine was users(sumit\Users)

  »  Check every box.

Cut hosts file and paste it on desktop.Edit it then copy and paste it back to its original location.
